Everything we know about 'Stranger Things' season 5: Details

The teaser for the highly anticipated season finale is here.

"Stranger Things" is coming to an end this fall.

The science fiction series has captivated audiences since it was first released in 2016. The series follows eerie happenings in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana, in the 1980s, and a teenage friend group looking to uncover the town's mysteries.

Now, fans are wondering if questions about the mysterious Upside Down will be answered and if Vecna will finally be found and killed.

In a May interview with Netflix's Tudum, "Stranger Things" creators Matt and Ross Duffer discussed the 25-page "mythology document" the two assembled for Netflix during the show's first season, which they said explored the lore behind the Upside Down.

"The last remaining questions that are answered in that document, we've punted a couple of those to have some big reveals in season 5," Ross Duffer said at the time.

He added, "That's really going to affect what season 5 is about."

What can fans expect to see in season 5?

A synopsis for the highly anticipated upcoming season, which is set in the fall of 1987, states that "Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts [created in season 4], and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna. But he has vanished -- his whereabouts and plans unknown."

The synopsis continues, "Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding."

"As the anniversary of Will's disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread," the synopsis adds. "The final battle is looming -- and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they've faced before. To end this nightmare, they'll need everyone -- the full party -- standing together, one last time."
